7 Day notice to quit the premises

I was recently in the hospital for a miscarriage. At which time our rent was due on January 15. Per our lease agreement we have 10 days to pay our rent. Today I opened the front door to discover a 7 day notice to quit the premises. I’m not sure exactly what this means. Do I lay her the rent or is she terminating the lease all together? We’ve lived here 7 months & she demands her rent on the 15th. This month that just couldn’t happen. I was in the hospital on the 15th, 16th, 17th. Just returned home last night. Today is the 19th. The 7 Day notice to quit the premises was dated for January 17.

I would just contact her and let her know what is going on. Im sure she would be understanding. It is very important to communicate with us landlords because if we don't pay the mortgage on time we get a penalty fee.
