Month to month lease

I live in Iowa and have tenant on month to month lease. With A 30 day notice to terminate. he emailed me At 9:20 P.M. on 3/2/2020. i don't believe this is enough time w/o having to pay April rent. can you tell me if i'm right or wrong?
