How do I find/choose an attorney?

Our tenant has decided to sue us to try and get her deposit back, even though she and her kids and subletters did over $5000 of damage to our rental house. We have not ever used an attorney before, so I'm at a loss where to start.  How do we go about picking an attorney?  Thanks, Terri
