Hello my boyfriend and i currently broke up and we were both on the lease the 6 month lease is over and now is on a month to month lease. I can't get him to get ahold of the land lord to have his name taken off the lease. my question is since it went to a month to month lease can my land lord just write a new lease with just my name on it?

Yes you can have your landlord write a new and separate lease. However they will need to give you both a 30 day notice to vacate.
