My rental is a total loss in Ca wildfires

My poor tenants moved in 2 weeks before (August 1st) the wildfire destroyed their home. I gave them back their deposit immediately I was wondering about August rent. I was also evacuated and lost my primary home that was across the street. We were evacuated on 8-20-20.. my question is.. should I return the rent they paid for August for the days they couldn’t be there? It would be approximately 10 days. Thank you in advance

You can always file but that doesn't promise IRS will allow.

I think you should pay them back the amount paid since the financial conditions there, is quite unstable. Owing to the fact that they are poor I think you should consider this. I'm sorry the situation is bad for you too. I hope it gets better. Take care.
