What questions can you legally ask?

We are in the process of reviewing tenant applications.  What questions are now legal to ask current employers, landlords, credit firms, etc. in making our decsion?    We did use the tenant screening process through EZ Landlord and that came back good.

If it's the least bit sensitive, don't ask about it (race, familial status, etc).
