I am about to rent my home in texas. the interested person asked first how much was the rental for, after they asked to see the house they said if I would accept a pet. I said: It was announced as No pet allowed but i would consider a small breed no more than 18 lbs. how do I go by to tell them the rent will be higher an addtional 25.00. without grounds for discrimination? Texas Law, i don't know what would cover this. thank you

Most landlord would add a pet deposit - A pet deposit is an additional security deposit usually required if you want to keep a pet on the premises. The same rules that apply to regular security deposits apply to pet deposits. Also Texas law states "There are no limitations placed on the collection of a separate pet security deposit."
