Bank account number- why is it on the form?

Does anyone understand why the free rental form from ez landlordz asks for a bank account number from applicants? I understand it is optional information, but I think it still scares away potential applicants. Are landlords using the bank account numbers? What would they use them for?

I require this info because i require auto deposit but they do not have to add that information. I can simply ask for the accepted applicant to give this information to me using another form. What do others use this information for? I am now very curious.
