Lease Deposit + 1st Month

Hi!  I have put up a house for rent but it will only be available on May 1st. Since I am taking rental applications and signing a lease agreement with a tenant now, how much of the deposit and rent should I take as a guarantee that they wont just walk before May1?  Thanks, Venu

It is good to get as much as the first months rent as possible.
