I am leasing a small in law apartment. the structure is free standing and has it's own power meter. When my renter moved in it was discussed he would provide his own power to that meter. In the mean time the power has been running on a back up line from the main larger home. How much notice do I need to provide for him to get his own utilities? this is has been a month to month lease with no actual written lease.

I would certainly sign a lease asap and include the details regarding the power within the lease agreement. A fair amount of time might be 30 days, just a suggestion.
