Renters Insurance

I read somewhere that we should make sure the tenant has renters insurance.  I also thought I read for them to have you listed on the insurance in the case they terminate the insurance during the lease.  Can someone offer advise on asking for renters insurance and how do I ensure the policy stays in effect.  I live in Texas.
