Hello, my tenant told me last month they were leaving, before their lease is up , which is Dec. 31, 2021, They will vacate this week, Now they want know if they have to pay Decembers rent. I was planning to keep the security deposit for Dec rent. But they also are arrears in utility bills , which they are to pay, but it f they don't, the landlord is responsible., Can anyone give me advice/suggestions as to how to handle this problem? Hello, They are responsible for Decembers rent as per the lease. If the utilities are in their name, then you can change it after they vacate without being held responsible for the outstanding balance.
