Sale of a leased property

I am considering selling a property that is occupied under lease. I did not put the notification of sale clause into the lease because it reads that the tenant acknowledges the property is for sale and it wasn't for sale at the time the lease was signed. Am I able to sell the property and am I protected simply by using the notification letter form? Thanks for any help Mikina
