Hello, I am wondering if there is any legal statue on amount you can raise rent for a tenant? Is there a maximum amount/percent that I can raise rent on tenant in a 4plex? Thank you.

Each state has their own rules and regs, however if you are not in a regulated state there is no limit that you can raise rent to. Keep in mind you want to match the market not out-price yourself. If the tenant needs an explanation you can help clarify by explaining the cause weather it be taxes or home value increase. You need to keep up as rates change and so do they.
