Kitchen remodel

I want to gut and remodel the kitchen while tenant is still there. It is a two week remodel. Tenant is not happy and concerned about asbestos and lead based paint. House is 1968. Can they break the lease?

If it is not safe or healthy for the tenant yes they can. I suggest paying for them to stay in a hotel until the  remodel is finished if they are concerned.
