Does anyone know what the law is in New Jersey with regards to how long a guest can stay until they are considered a tenant

Look it up in your State's statutes. In Minnesota it is 14 consecutive days and then they must be on the Lease. I have an addendum with every one of my Leases stating this and an allowable guest stay of no more than 7 days without notifying the Landlord.
