do I owe renter refund on rent paid if they turn in keys before end of month

California rental question


30 day notice to vacate was given on the 1st of July

renter paid July rent

we did a pre-walk thru and noted some minor issues 

I received a text that renter will be here tomorrow 7/29 to return keys and we will do final walkthru


am I obligated to return 2 days prorated rent from what was paid on the 1st or not

For me, no. The tenant left their rental agreement early. The only thing I owe them is the return of any security deposit they have coming and a reference if they followed the rules.
