Verbal move-out agreement

If a verbal agreement was made with tenants to move out at a certain time and it was not kept, would you write up a statement verifying the agreement, after the fact. If this statement was written up with an two week extension, how would you prorate the rent for the two weeks. Do you divide the rent by the days and add a service charge or do you only divide the rent by the days?

Using a written notice or agreement is much better as it provides tangible proof. It prevents the "my word against your word" scenario. To pro-rate rent, I always multiply the monthly rent by 12, and divide that number by 365 to get the daily figure and then multiply that by the number of days.
