Tenant broke lease agreement question

Can I do a background check after a tenant moves in and has been there for 5 months? Tenant has had a bounced check and paid late and I want to see the pattern with others. Or did I have to do this prior and can't do it after now because I lost my opportunity. What is my protection to investigage the character of the tenant after the move-in?

Have you already conducted a background check before he moved in? This would depend on whether this tenant signed a release for you to do so. if not than you will not be able to do this. If you have your application, see what it says.
