Damage Deposit vs Security Deposit

Does anyone know if is is legal to collect a damage deposit in addition to a security deposit....I am new to this. I am in Ohio

I'm in iowa. As far as our leases go, a security deposit is to cover damage, upon move out. Not past due rent. I have had to remind tenants in the past about this when making repairs to damages at properties. So I think what your refering to is one in the same. Also, since your new at this; Do not wait until the tenant moves out to fix stuff that they damage. Security deposits can go very quickly. Fix the damnage they cause and bill them for the charges.
