Documentation needed from prospective tenant

Do I need to get a credit report as a part of the application process? How about bank statements?

AAAAAAAAAAAABSOLUTELY WHAT GOOD IS HAVING A TENANT IF HE CANNOT PAY YOU ! Usually a credit check weeds out the baddies , I would get a book and read up on being a landlord, what about trash , and other things like a lease , and pets  and parking , what about codes in your place is it up to living conditions , take pictures of the inside so when damage is done you can prove it , there are people out there that will prey on you if you let them . be smart and be educated on being a landlord , it will save you grief and lawyer exspenses
