court action on 3 day notice

I had my agent deliver a 3 day notice to pay or quit. It was handed to a 12 yr old who claimed his mother was napping and could not come to the door. I am concerned that in court they will consider this inappropriate delivery. It is three business days later and I just learned that I was also to mail the notice, which I failed to do. Should I just start the procedure over to be sure it stands up in court? My tenant will not call me back to acknowledge that she received the notice and has not been picking up mail at the physical address.

start over making sure 12 yr old wakes mom up so she comes to door or you can post in obvious place such as door and be sure to mail one make her sign for it
