Unapproved fee from property management company

I own a condominium in CT that I rent out. My former tenant parked in a visitor parking spot and a tree on the property fell on his car. The property management company removed the tree from his car and have billed me $875 for the tree removal.  I was not contacted prior to the tree being removed.  Where should I go from here? I don't think I should be liable for the fee.
